Captain-pick trend

What the winners list tells us about captain picks.

Across the last 30 contests, the desk's HIGH confidence captain pick closed 28 of 30 winning entries (93.3%). The two exceptions were MEDIUM picks that exceeded confidence on a strong toss result. The trend supports the desk's formula: HIGH picks win more often than MEDIUM picks, which win more often than LOW picks.

The trend is descriptive, not predictive — past performance does not guarantee future results. The desk updates the trend calculation monthly.

Notes from the editorial desk.

How winners are verified

Winners are verified through a four-step process: contest completion, entry verification, user consent, and ledger confirmation. The contest must be fully scored; the winning entry must be associated with a verified account; the user must have given consent for the publication; the desk must confirm the prize landed in the user's ledger.

Why only first-name and state

The desk publishes first-name + state only. The desk does not publish full names, full addresses, phone numbers, email addresses or PAN numbers. The first-name + state combination is enough to prove a real person won a real prize without exposing personal data. Readers who want full verification can email [email protected].

Captain-pick trend methodology

The captain-pick trend is calculated monthly. The desk counts how many winning entries had a HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW captain pick from the desk. The trend supports the desk's formula: HIGH picks win more often than MEDIUM picks, which win more often than LOW picks. The trend is descriptive, not predictive.

How long the list is retained

The winners list is retained for 12 months. After 12 months, the list is archived but still available on request. Archived lists can be requested via the corrections address. The desk publishes the current month's list on the winners page; older lists are available on request.

Why some winners are not on the list

Winners who opted out of the winners list (Account → Privacy → Winners list visibility off) are not published. The opt-out does not affect the winning entry — the entry still wins and the prize is credited. The opt-out only affects whether the name appears on the public list.

How the desk handles a winner dispute

If a winner disputes the contest outcome, the desk investigates the dispute within 24 hours. If the dispute is upheld, the contest is re-scored and the ledger is updated. The desk notifies all participants in the affected contest via in-app push and email. The winners list is updated to reflect the corrected outcome.

Why the list is monthly not weekly

The desk publishes the winners list monthly rather than weekly because most contests span multiple fixtures. A weekly list would be sparse and not statistically meaningful. The monthly list aggregates enough contests to support the captain-pick trend analysis.
